We only require an up to date rabies vaccination, but we strongly recommend consulting your vet. about all the necessary vaccinations.

Rabies is still very present and dangerous to both pets and humans.  The state of California requires proof of rabies vaccination and that your dog be vaccinated, but not necessarily so for cats.  Being natural born hunters, cats are also subject to Rabies.  Even house cats can get rabies from mice or rats.

For insurance purposes, we must have an up to date rabies vaccination on file for every pet we groom.

Yes we do.  We have master cat groomers for both cuts and baths.

Each pet is different and our recommendation is usually based on the condition (dryness) of the skin and coat.  Based on the high quality of products we use, some pets can be groomed as frequently as once a week.  Our groomers usually make a recommendation based on the individual pet on their health report card.

We don’t rush your pet through at Tailwashers.  Each pet is given a lot of special attention and times can vary based on the condition of the coat and on how comfortable the pet is or isn’t.  If a pet seems to be stressed at all, we give them breaks and take time to calm them.  For baths we recommend two to three hours for most breeds and for cuts three to four hours.

Self Wash is open every day until 6:45pm.

Anal glands are sacs in the dogs (or cats) rear end that are used to mark their territory and identify other dogs.  A lot of dogs will express their glands during defecation, however, when the dog’s stools are soft they may not exert enough pressure on the glands, which then may fail to empty. This may cause discomfort as the full anal gland pushes on the anus. Discomfort is evidenced by the dog scooting its posterior on the ground, licking or biting at the anus, sitting uncomfortably, difficulty sitting or standing, or chasing its tail

We do offer an un-skunk service, this service is available only with the full bath that consists of a safe & effective odor elimination.

It is important to know that due to the nature of the Skunk’s chemicals composition the odor will be reactivated every time that the affected area is in contact with water, it may last up to six months. Our Un-Skunk service help minimize the odor up to 90% in most of the cases.
